Fruit-Bearing Branch

 Fruit-Bearing Branch

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;

and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

"You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

"Abide in Me, and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine,

neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

"I am the vine, you are the branches.

 He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit;

for without Me you can do nothing.

 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;

and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,

you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

 "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit;

so you will be My disciples.

 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you;

 abide in My love.

"If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love,

just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

"These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you,

and that your joy may be full.

"This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.

"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends,

for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

 "You did not choose Me,

but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit,

and that your fruit should remain,

that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

John 15:1-16

The branch that is connected to the vine bears fruit.

The branch that is not connected, falls and withers.

This vital connection is Faith.

JESUS is the true vine - He is the Truth.

Father GOD is the gardener Who planted the vine on this earth and takes responsibility for the tree.

The purpose of the branch is to bear the fruit of the vine. It is the branch that bears fruit for the vine. Therefore GOD takes away the person who is in CHRIST but does not bear fruit. He is useless on this earth.

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. - James 2:17

The vinedresser prunes the branch that bears fruit. He cuts off things, activities and people from our lives that hinder our fruitfulness. Then we bear more fruit.

The word of GOD brings conviction and enables us to put away any hindrance to bearing fruit.

We abide in Him when we live in right relationships with GOD’S people in obedience to the LORD.

He abides in us when we meditate on His word, obey and commune with Him.

Washing of Another’s Feet

 Washing of Another’s Feet

You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

John 13:13-15

Washing another’s feet is symbolic of intercession.

We should therefore be intercessors and not accusers of the brethren.

This task is usually performed by a servant or a slave.

We should humbly serve one another in love.

Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:24-27

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

Revelation 1:5

The LORD JESUS is our Heavenly Bridegroom, the Word Made Flesh, Who shed His own Blood to cleanse us, His Bride.

Our marriage relationships too should reflect this loving relationship.

When the servants of David had come to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her saying, "David sent us to you, to ask you to become his wife." Then she arose, bowed her face to the earth, and said, "Here is your maidservant, a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord." So Abigail rose in haste and rode on a donkey, attended by five of her maidens; and she followed the messengers of David, and became his wife.

1 Samuel 25:40-42

Abigail is a picture of a humble intercessor in the Kingdom of GOD.

This is typical of the Bride of CHRIST.

DOWN LIGHTS

DOWN LIGHTS

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth,
that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
James 1:16-18

Recently we needed to replace our sensor down lights on the front wall of our house.
Although these lights are fitted permanently and the switch is always on, they only switch on when they are triggered by some movement in the area.

GOD is light and there is no darkness in Him and yet He needs people to seek Him and connect with Him, to receive and reflect His light in this world of darkness! The realm of darkness is brought on by the rebellion of the powers of Satan's influence on human minds.

GOD expects His children to be His down lights to bring light into the lives of people living under the darkness of spiritual deception, rebellion, confusion and oppression.

Arise, seek GOD, connect with Him and become a down light for Him!
That is GOD's plan for you!

Arise, shine; For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Isaiah 60:1-3

SEEK, SEE, SNAP!

 SEEK, SEE, SNAP!

What is on your mind when you wake up in the morning?

Is your mind imagining the purchases you made the day before - the dresses, the delicacies, the furniture, the new hair or skin treatment you are planning to try out, the new vehicle or the new house you just invested in?

Is your mind full of the things you have to get through during the day - that difficult project at work or the never ending house work, your studies and exams?

It is important for us to set our mind in the right direction every morning.

Just like taking a photograph, seek the LORD and the plan He has for you even for that day.

When you get connected and see GOD's plan for your day, 'SNAP' set your mind on it.

Make it a habit to refer to that 'snapped photo' through the day, between each task, so that you keep on track.

At the end of the day, you will get to bed with great thanksgivings to the LORD for enabling you to fulfill His specific plan for your life for that day. Your sleep will be sweet!

If then you were raised with Christ,
seek those things which are above,
where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is our life appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4

Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
Psalm 105:3-4

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord.
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:6-9

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord,
thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me,
and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me,
when you search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11-13

Open my eyes,
that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.
Psalm 119:18

Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8

After these things I looked, and behold
a door standing open in heaven.
And the first voice which I heard
was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying,
"Come up here, and I will show you things
which must take place after this."
Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold
a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
Revelation 4:1-2

But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes,
the deep things of God.
For what man knows the things of a man
except the spirit of the man which is in him?
Even so no one knows the things of God
except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things
that have been freely given to us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:9-12

PRIDE

PRIDE  - A DEADLY DISEASE!

Pride is a sickness of the soul.
It is caused by the fallen nature all of us are born with.

 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.
Habakkuk 2:4

Causes
Symptoms, Signs
Examination, Investigation
Treatment and Prognosis

Predisposing factors that could cause pride:

Physical beauty, strength, talents and skills, intelligence,
achievements, knowledge, education,
riches and positions.

These can cause unrealistic high self esteem and self exaltation.

Thus says the Lord:
"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness,
judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight," says the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24

I must not be proud of my wisdom.
I must not be proud of the position of authority I carry.
I must not be proud of any strength I have - physical, emotional or spiritual.
I must not be proud of the material things I possess.

I must glory only in the LORD.

Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--
is not of the Father but is of the world.

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it;
but he who does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15-17

Adulterers and adulteresses!
Do you not know that friendship with the world
is enmity with God?
Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world
makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain,
"The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
"God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore submit to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners;
and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep!
Let your laughter be turned to mourning
and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and He will lift you up. James 4:4-10
I must not seek to glory in the things of the world.

Now concerning things offered to idols:
We know that we all have knowledge.
Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
1 Corinthians 8:1

I should not glory in the knowledge I have gained.

Any knowledge I possess should digest from my head to become love in my heart!
Thus it will edify and bless others and bring glory to the LORD.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
being justified freely by His grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood,
through faith,
to demonstrate His righteousness,
because in His forbearance
God had passed over the sins
that were previously committed,
to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness,
that He might be just and the justifier
of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded.
By what law? Of works?
No, but by the law of faith.
Romans 3:23-27

I cannot boast about my spiritual salvation
because it is the gift of grace received by faith.

This is a faithful saying:
If a man desires the position of a bishop,
he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless,
the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded,
of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent,
not greedy for money, but gentle,
not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well,
having his children in submission
with all reverence (for if a man does not know
how to rule his own house,
how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride
he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 1 Timothy 3:1-6

I must not be proud of my Christian leadership roles.

Symptoms of pride

carrying a low opinion of others.

Difficulty in honouring others.

Quick temper and lack of patience.

Lack of value for people and things, resulting in despising them.

No desire to help others.

No gratitude.

Lacking joy.

Stressed about various things.

Desire to stand out different to others.
Feel embarrassed if identified with someone of lower social standing,
in relationship, in appearance or outfit.

If I experience any of the above symptoms, I must take time to consult my GP - The Great Physician, regarding this.

Signs of Pride

Dishonours others in speech and action.

Does not acknowledge the good in others.

Critical and judgmental.

Stressed and agitated.

Gives no time for others.

Difficulty in relating to the poor and to children.

Selfish.

Self sufficient and doesn't easily ask for help.

Callous with the property of others.

Does not make an effort to listen to or understand others.

Does not make an effort to relate to people who are different.

Will reach out and help, if noticed by others.

If I observe the above signs in myself, I must go to GOD
and be completely open before Him. I must repent
and ask the LORD to forgive me. I must make the effort
to humble myself.

If I observe these signs in an individual, I must pray for him/ her,
asking the LORD's gracious forgiveness and a change of heart.

I must not take it upon myself to see that individual humbled
by my words or actions or attitude, which has the risk of myself
being pumped up with pride!

Examining Myself

Observe reactions and responses while having a conversation.
Am I more eager to speak than to listen?

When someone drops something, am I quick to bend low
to pick it up?

observe response to a need around ..like a child having a fall.
How quick am I to respond?

Observe reaction to a hint of criticism -
Do I react defensive and angry?

I must spend time in the presence of the LORD with His word,
with an open mind and heart, allowing Him to examine me
and bring conviction of sin.

For it is the Holy Spirit who convicts me of the sin of pride, and also guides me and enables me to humble myself and step down from the ladder of arrogance!

Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest,
lest anyone fall according to the same example
of disobedience.

For the word of God is living and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
And there is no creature hidden from His sight,
but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him
to whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:11-13

Investigation

I must diligently study and learn the word to understand
the cause of my pride.

I must check my motives by asking myself,
"Why am I doing this or why do I hold this position?" or
"Why do I desire to have or purchase this thing?

I should also check my attitudes while in the LORD's presence.

Treatment

Spending time with GOD and His word will help me to understand
the greatness of GOD. I will realise I have nothing to boast.
All that I am and all that I have are gracious gifts from Him.

I must then repent of my pride and ask the LORD for forgiveness
and turn from my evil ways.

I must also put my relationships with others right,
even with those whom I may have offended, by humbling myself
and asking for forgiveness if appropriate.

Like most treatment processes, the treatment for pride
is also not pleasant and can be somewhat painful,
but brings a good result.

And you have forgotten the exhortation
which speaks to you as to sons:
"My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;

For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives."

If you endure chastening,
God deals with you as with sons;
for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
But if you are without chastening,
of which all have become partakers,
then you are illegitimate and not sons.
Furthermore,
we have had human fathers who corrected us,
and we paid them respect.
Shall we not much more readily be in subjection
to the Father of spirits and live?

For they indeed for a few days chastened us
as seemed best to them, but He for our profit,
that we may be partakers of His holiness.

Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present,
but painful; nevertheless, afterward
it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness
to those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:5-11

Let nothing be done
through selfish ambition or conceit,
but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem others better than himself.

Let each of you look out
not only for his own interests,
but also for the interests of others.

Let this mind be in you
which was also in Christ Jesus,

who, being in the form of God,
did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

but made Himself of no reputation,
taking the form of a bondservant,
and coming in the likeness of men.

And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself
and became obedient to the point of death,
even the death of the cross.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him
and given Him the name
which is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those in heaven, and of those on earth,
and of those under the earth,

and that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:3-11

Prevention

The fear of the LORD will keep me from pride.
"For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven,
And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.
And the day which is coming shall burn them up,"
Says the Lord of hosts,
"That will leave them neither root nor branch.

But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
Malachi 4:1-2

I ought to constantly learn about the greatness of GOD
and praise and exalt Him.

I should train myself to seek the LORD each morning and
connect with Him through the day to check
the motives of my mind and the attitudes of my heart
to keep humility.

I must walk in submission and obedience to the LORD.

I must submit to others and especially to those older
and have authority over me.

Whatever knowledge I gain in my mind, should be prayed through
into my heart as love, and followed through as actions of love.

When I take to the LORD whatever information I gather,
He helps me to see it in the right perspective. If it sits in my head
as knowledge and opinions, it will puff me up. If it is converted
into love through prayer, it will edify me, and others through me!

I must recognise the fact that all I am and all I have are
gracious gifts from the LORD and thank the LORD and develop
an attitude of gratitude to GOD.

I should develop the habit of thanking others for their acts of
kindness and gifts.

I must look for something good in others and honour them.

Eat simple, dress simple, live simple and associate with simple
and humble people!

 Likewise you younger people,
submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another,
and be clothed with humility,
for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."
  1 Peter 5:5

Be of the same mind toward one another.
Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.
Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Romans 12:16

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited,
provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:25-26

We must know that flattery puffs up self and promotes pride.
Therefore let the words we speak to others, not be careless but wise and godly,
bringing encouragement to others.

knowing the dangers of pride, let us wisely guide our children in the path of humility and the fear of the LORD.

Prognosis - Healing and Restoration

With the LORD treating us, there is hope of a 100% restoration!

And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar,
lifted my eyes to heaven,
and my understanding returned to me;
and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him
who lives forever:
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom is from generation to generation.

All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;
He does according to His will in the army of heaven
And among the inhabitants of the earth.
No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him,
"What have You done?"
At the same time my reason returned to me,
and for the glory of my kingdom,
my honor and splendor returned to me.
My counselors and nobles resorted to me,
I was restored to my kingdom,
and excellent majesty was added to me.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor
the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth,
and His ways justice.
And those who walk in pride He is able to put down.
Daniel 4:34-37
