THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER!

Many things we do during Christmas are a reflection of what GOD did for us. 

We give gifts to those we love because GOD first loved us and gave us the Greatest Gift ever! 

 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

To many people in the world, gifts are not available because of poverty, broken relationships or separation or bereavement. But GOD’s gift is available to all people in the world!

We wrap the gifts and arrange them under the Christmas tree. Sometimes, the wrapping paper would be fancy but the gift would not be so valuable!

 It was contrary in the case of GOD’s gift to us. GOD’s most Precious Gift to mankind was wrapped in strips of cloth and laid in an animal’s food trough in a stinky stable!

 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:7

 At JESUS’ death too, His body was taken down from the tree (cross) and wrapped in linen and laid in a tomb.

 And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

John 19:39

 Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man..

 ..This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.

Luke 23:50, 52-53

Those who receive the gift receive a blessing. Those who receive the LORD JESUS into their lives, become children of the Most High GOD! 

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

John 1:12

Certain gifts we receive may not be suitable for us, and that will cause us to be disappointed.

CHRIST is suitable for every person on earth. He meets us at the point of our need. The gift we receive in CHRIST, can never disappoint us! His power that works in us is beyond our imagination. His love passes knowledge. His peace passes all understanding. He gives us joy that is unspeakable and full of glory!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

 

 Certain gifts like candy, cakes and puddings, if too many, may not be good for us. But GOD only gives us gifts that are good for us. 

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

James 1:17

The greatest gift He has given us is His only begotten Son, JESUS, the Saviour of all mankind!

In this wicked world, our very precious gifts can be stolen! The gift of salvation in CHRIST cannot be taken away from us. We should not allow our relationship with JESUS to be broken by anyone or anything else. We should not quench the Holy Spirit by being self centred. We must not grieve the Holy Spirit by harbouring hurt and anger against others.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one."

John 10:28-30

When we receive a good gift, it is a blessing given to us.

 The LORD, when He ascended to Heaven, gave us spiritual gifts to be used to bless others. The power of the Holy Spirit on a believer, may give him a prophetic word, a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom or the power to heal, according to the need of another person. Such gifts, when used as led by the Holy Spirit, bring encouragement, edification and blessing to others.

 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:10

The gifts we receive at Christmas might excite us for a season, but as the item becomes old, wears out, fades and loses its glamour, breaks or tears, loses its value. It is not so with GOD’s Gift to us. ‘Every day with JESUS is sweeter than the day before’! The more we learn of Him through His word and His Spirit and the closer we draw to Him, the more of His goodness we experience in our lives. 

GOD’s grace is manifold. As we grow in the knowledge of GOD, the revelation of His grace is like the unfolding of a large towel that has been folded many, many times! Thus we grow in His grace and become more gracious in ourselves.

Let us therefore value the greatest gift we have received from our Heavenly Father, and continue to progress and grow in our spiritual life. Let us pursue JESUS this Christmas and throughout the new year! 

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Philippians 3:10-11

When we let the Holy Spirit to rule in our lives, JESUS increases in us and we become more like Him. We will then reflect His love and goodness and become GOD’s gift of blessing to others!

 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
