Kingdom against Kingdom
My husband and I, while visiting a city, went up to the 46th storey of a building and were astonished at the view of the city! Many tall buildings, fancy structures and amazing lightings! Even while admiring this sight, the following Scripture came to my mind.
Again, the devil took Him (JESUS) up
on an exceedingly high mountain,
and showed Him
all the kingdoms of the world
and their glory.
And he said to Him,
"All these things I will give You
if You will fall down and worship me."
Then Jesus said to him,
"Away with you, Satan!
For it is written, '
You shall worship the Lord your God,
and Him only you shall serve.' "
Then the devil left Him, and behold,
angels came and ministered to Him.
Matthew 4:8-11
Even if we are able to enjoy the comforts and good things this world offers, we must be careful not to bow down to the systems and values of this world.
For what will it profit a man
if he gains the whole world,
and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give
in exchange for his soul?
For whoever is ashamed of Me
and My words in this adulterous
and sinful generation,
of him the Son of Man
also will be ashamed
when He comes in the glory
of His Father with the holy angels."
Mark 8:36-38
Have you lost your soul to the devil by being attracted to the things of this world, desiring to gain possessions, positions and glory for yourself and your children?
As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
rooted and built up in Him
and established in the faith,
as you have been taught,
abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Beware lest anyone cheat you
through philosophy and empty deceit,
according to the tradition of men,
according to the basic principles
of the world,
and not according to Christ.
For in Him dwells
all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
and you are complete in Him,
who is the head
of all principality and power.
Colossians 2:6-10
The passing pleasures of this world are like symptomatic treatment for a sickness. Panadol and Neurofen will ease the pain in your joint or muscle for a few hours but it will not heal. Deep Heat, Fisio cream, Wintegeno and the like, when applied on an area, are able only to mask the deep seated pain.
Similarly, the passing pleasures this world offers, like alcohol, drugs, casino, disco, immorality and so on, can only mask the pain and sickness of the soul for a period of time. These vices in fact, ensnare the soul, bring it into bondage and leave it desperately dry and wounded.
By faith Moses, when he became of age,
refused to be called
the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
choosing rather to suffer affliction
with the people of God
than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
esteeming the reproach of Christ
greater riches
than the treasures in Egypt;
for he looked to the reward.
Hebrews 11:24-26
We must always be mindful to seek GOD's Kingdom and His righteousness as we go about our life in this world. We can be interceding for people around us in the work place, in restaurants, while using public transport and in aircrafts. If we keep our mind set on spiritual things, we will be able to make use of every opportunity to share the love of the LORD with someone and the Gospel of JESUS with the one the Holy Spirit points us to! We should not let our mind get preoccupied with the things of this world, however attractive they might be.
Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:2
For nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom.
And there will be famines, pestilences,
and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matthew 24:7-8
According to our LORD's teachings, these endtimes are marked by wars and rumours of wars. Not only are the earthly kingdoms against each other, but the kingdom of darkness is at war against the Kingdom of Light! It is very important for us to understand this so that we may not at any time be found standing against the Kingdom of our LORD and of His CHRIST.
Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven,
saying, "The kingdoms of this world
have become the kingdoms of our Lord
and of His Christ,
and He shall reign forever and ever!"
Revelation 11:15
